Parent FAQ

What is the pathway to the WHL and NCAA?

Sask Super Selects provides a direct pipeline to elite hockey by building pro-ready habits from a young age. The program follows the HSL development model, recognized as a premier scouting ground for the WHL Prospects Draft. In 2025, 45 HSL alumni were selected in the WHL Draft, including 7 first-round picks. Following the U15 level, players transition into high-performance environments such as SMAAAHL, CSSHL, or JPHL. Recent NCAA rule changes now allow players to compete in the WHL while maintaining NCAA Division I eligibility, creating a true dual pathway to both major junior and collegiate hockey.

What does the development schedule look like compared to minor hockey?

Our program provides significantly more structured development than traditional minor hockey, including: - 4-5 on-ice practices per week (power skating and elite skill development) - 1 weekly session at the Super Skills Elite Facility (MRC) - 2-3 dryland training sessions (strength, agility, plyometrics) - Built-in academic support time - 8 showcase tournaments with an optimal practice-to-game ratio

How does the cost compare to traditional hockey?

While the total investment in a private academy is comparable to traditional hockey, the cost per development hour is significantly lower. Our program bundles elite coaching, shooting labs, treadmill sessions, off-ice training, and nutrition into one comprehensive fee, delivering far more value than paying separately for external development in minor hockey.

Can we plan our family schedule in advance?

Yes. One of our core advantages is a full-season master schedule released in advance. There are no last-minute changes or weekly ice uncertainties. This allows families to confidently plan vacations, school commitments, and other activities. Practice times will typically fall within morning and evening windows (7:00 AM, 3:45 PM, and 5:00 PM), split between the MRC and SaskTel Centre.

Who will be coaching my child?

Our program is led by experienced, high-level coaches under the direction of: - Shane Endicott (Co-Founder) - Trevor Robertson (Director of Hockey Operations) - The 2026-2027 Head Coach will be announced (TBA) All programming is aligned with academy standards and long-term athlete development principles.

How is nutrition handled?

We provide chef-prepared meals guided by a certified sports nutritionist for all game days and travel. This program supports athlete performance while offering a healthy, convenient alternative to dining out.

Is mental health supported?

Yes. Our introductory mental performance program is designed in collaboration with a PhD psychologist and sports mental health professionals. It focuses on helping athletes build confidence, manage emotions, and develop strong mental habits early.

Is the league insured?
